According to Maergzjiran lore, Aurashniya learned through Belnara, the means by which to use gateways, enter the Black City, and to master the magicks by which she would need in order to reside in the Black City without being torn to nothingness. However, deeper lore also explains that she, like Zazazel was a mortal Mage. She was a very secretive Egyptian mystic living approximately during 3100 B.C. It was during this time that she first met Belnara; coming down to meet her in the Sahara during a nocturnal ritual. As her mastery of nocturnal ritual and power within this world grew, she enchanted a ring with Belnara’s assistance. She called it the “al-Qahria”. While the direct translation is unclear, she made this promise known to all Disciples of the Cabal after her transfiguration into the ink black-skinned Spirit we know today: “All who call for my hand through the al-Qahria shall part the planes and walk freely between worlds and drink deeply from the well of my dominion.” Possessing the al-Qahria opens planar gates and vortexes by making physical and/or spiritual contact with such a doorway andreciting this incantation, “Open to my flesh and my soul. By the al-Qahria it is done.”
