Elixirs were originally believed to cure all ills or to give eternal life. Originally, the term “elixir” came from alchemists. Elixirs were not always in liquid from. Many of the earlier alchemist elixirs are described as powders.
 
One of the first and most famous elixirs is the “Elixir of Life”. It was believed to be in the possession of Alchemists and Kabbalists in Medieval Europe. Many tales and stories in history center around this belief. There are also some that believe the Elixir of Life is water since it is necessary for life to exist, and all organic matter is largely comprised of water.
